GLOBAL VILLAGE AFRIKA

Global Village Afrika is a Non-Governmental Organization established to focus primarily in

promoting and advocating for equitable development of all districts in Ghana. The membership and

participation in this NGO is opened to all well-meaning individuals who believe

and share the dream of providing and engaging the local communities to be socio-economically

empowered.

 

VISION

The vision of Global Village Afrika is to: Be the leading group in promoting and advocating for equitable development of all districts in Ghana.

 

MISSION

The mission is to:

  • Serve to lead
  • Provide community support
  • Engage the community towards sustainable development.

 

FOCUS AREAS

The Global Village Afrika focus is mainly to materialize the sustainable development of

Communities through the following, but not limited to:

  • Women Economic Empowerment and Capacity Building
  • Agriculture Development in the Rural Areas and Afforestation.
  • Poverty Eradication and Income Generation for Rural Communities
  • Conservation
  • Educational Development, e.g.; Providing Basic Facilities to Schools.
  • Health and Sanitation Awareness
  • Youth Engagement

 

ORGANIZATION AND STRUCTURE

It is the intent of the founding members of this group, to work tirelessly to eliminate any appearance of

unnecessary bureaucratic model of organization thereby leading to Red Tape that can stifle initiative.

Administrative measures will be put in place to control that. In order to cut down on excessive

administrative cost, it is encouraged that the village and town structures of the CG shall consist of liaison officers or personnel that shall link those levels to the various District, Regional, and National.  It is also

encouraged that the various Regional and District Commonwealth Groups shall collaborate and

communicate with each other to understand trending events and other Peculiar lessons. The Regional and District Level Commonwealth Groups are the products from the National Group and it is the intent of the founders to ensure efficient and effective communication and Working relationship between the

mothership and the various District and Regional Groups.

Secondly, in a deliberate attempt to address the issue of One-Man’s Rule Syndrome, all levels of the

Global Village Afrika shall be administered using various teams as follows: ADMINISTRATIVE

TEAM (12, depending on the level), COMMUNICATION TEAM, FINANCIAL TEAM, PROJECT MANAGEMENT TEAM, LOGISTIC TEAM, POLITICAL TEAM, ECONOMIC TEAM, ETC.

There will be an interim eleven (11) member management committee to see to the formation of the various committees above listed.

 

PART II

OFFICIALS OF THE ORGANIZATION

 

  1. The organization shall have a management committee and teams whose members shall

either be elected at a stakeholder’s meeting or be appointed in acting capacity by two-thirds (2/3) of the

active founding members.

 

  • MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The management committee shall comprise of twelve (12) members. The 12 member committee shall be made up of a chair person, two (2) deputies and nine (9) other members. The role of the

management committee is to co-ordinate the activities and functions of the various teams by

providing a platform for collaboration.

The various teams are as follows;

 

  • ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM

The administrative team shall be made of a chair person, two deputies to the chair person, a

secretary, two deputies to the secretary and six other members.

The functions of the administrative team is to run the day-to-day activities of the group

(the secretariat).

  • FINANCIAL TEAM

The financial team shall comprise of a chair person, two (2) deputies to the chair person, a

treasurer, two (2) deputies of the treasurer and six (6) other members. The financial team shall be responsible for the raising of funds, record keeping and disbursement of the financial resources of the organisation.

  • PUBLIC RELATIONS TEAM

The public relations team shall comprise of a chair person, two (2) deputies and nine (9) other

members.

  • POLITICAL TEAM

The political team shall comprise of a chair person, two (2) deputies and nine (9) other members.

  • LOGISTICS TEAM

The logistics team shall comprise of a chair person, two (2) deputies and nine (9) other members.

  • Other relevant teams for instance, a legal team, shall be formed as the CG progresses, to meet the changing and respective needs.

 

  • TENURE OF OFFICE

Members of the various teams shall be elected for a tenure of four (4) years at a stakeholder’s Meeting and shall serve not more than two (2) terms in a particular team.  In the unlikely event that, elections could not be held at a stakeholder’s meeting, two-thirds (2/3) majority of the founding members shall appoint an interim committee in an acting capacity until the appropriate election is held.

  1. DISSOLUTION STATEMENT

 

A decision to dissolve the organisation (Commonwealth Group, Ghana) shall be executed through a vote at the founding members meeting. Two –thirds (2/3) of active members, will be required to vote for the

dissolution. Upon the dissolution, net assets acquired shall be donated to a charity chosen or selected by

two-thirds (2/3) of the active founding members.

 

Any such assets not disposed, shall be disposed by a court of competent jurisdiction in the country in

which the principal office of the organisation is located.

NOTES

  • IT IS THE INTENT OF THE FOUNDERS TO KEEP THE CONSTITUTION OF THIS ORGANIZATION AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE (2-PAGE CONSTITUTION)
  • THE FINANCE OF THIS ORGANIZATION SHALL COME FROM MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTIONS FROM ACTIVE MEMBERS, ECONOMIC VENTURES (AGRICULTURE, TOURISM, ETC.), DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN ASSISTANCE FROM PARTNERS.
  • DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE ORGANIZATION IS APOLITICAL, IT IS THE INTENT OF THE FOUNDERS TO EXACT ACCOUNTABILITY FROM LOCAL POLITICAL INSTITUTIONS.
  • FINALLY, IT IS THE INTENT OF FOUNDERS TO HAVE A CONSTITUTION THAT IS SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND AND SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN 2 PAGE LONG).
  • THE TEAMS THAT WOULD BE UTILIZED TO ADMINISTER THE VARIOUS COMMONWEALTH GROUPS WOULD EVENTUALLY BE ELECTED INTO THEIR ROLES USING PREFERENTIAL SYSTEM OF VOTING. INITIALLY, WE EXPECT VOLUNTEERS ON THE VARIOUS TEAMS DEPENDING ON THEIR SKILL SETS AND AMBITIONS. REMEMBER, THESE TEAMS CAN BE THE BASIC TRAINING GROUND FOR MEMEBERS WHO ARE NURSING ANY POLITICAL AMBITION AND THE CG SHOULD SUPPORT THOSE MOVES BY INDIVIDUAL MEMEBERS.
  • THE COMMONWEALTH GROUP, GHANA WOULD BE REGISTERED AS AN NGO IN GHANA AND THIS REGISTERATION WOULD COVER AS STIPULATED IN THE CONSTITUTION ALL OTHER GROUPS UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE MOTHER GROUP.
  • EACH REGIONAL GROUP WOULD HAVE IT’S OWN BYE LAWS THAT CONFORMS TO THE MISSION AS A WHOLE OF THE MOTHER GROUP.
  • THE CONSTITUTION SHALL CLEARLY DEFINE THE ROLES OF THE VARIOUS TEAMS THAT WOULD RUN THIS NGO.
